Gender equality took a tiny step forward in Thailand recently. Thai authorities continue to be unaccountably stubborn, while US President Donald Trump simply reversed policy. The law in question requires every Thai citizen to live and die with the gender identity assigned at birth. For example, the media reveals this foolish attitude towards gender identity at the annual military conscription event. For one thing, it goes against the Thai Gender Equality Act, passed by this very regime in 2015.
